Tournaments

The 2007 Nottingham Volleyball Tournament was launched this month with the date set for Saturday 9th June. To request an entry form send a quick email to nvt@thevolleyball.net . You will be required to give some of your details, for further information click here.

The Scottish Open Volleyball Tournament date has been announced as 26-27th May. Head towards the highlands (Perth actually) for a weekend of fun and don't forget to check out their extreme volleyball the Ben Nevis match, played at the highest point in Britain - nutters! Libero

Some of the federation matches over in the States are experimenting with the libero player being able to serve. As most of the rule changes stem from this area expect it to hit the UK shores in the next couple of years. Next thing they will think of is to allow the libero player to play front court!

Anyone can join the Olympic Team...

...if you're taller than 6'3. In a desperate attempt to put a British team forward for the Olympics a campaign was launched to hunt out potential volleyball athletes of the future. The initial criteria is 5ft 11in if you are female and 6ft 3in if you are male. Lets hope that those volleyball players who have worked their socks off to have a chance at the olympic team don't get put aside for those on this new fast-track.
